Telecoms company O2 is promoting its sponsorship of the England rugby team by launching the first ‘Once in a Lifetime’ competition which will see its O2 Priority division offer rugby fans the chance to join the England team on the pitch before the 2014 QBE Internationals.
From the 16th June fans who follow @O2Sport on Twitter will receive five rugby-themed questions that have been designed by the company to be a quick fire test of knowledge and speed. Every day, the fan with the most accurate answers as well as the fastest time will be given the chance to progress to the Grand Final. Finalists will need to be registered to O2 Priority in order to compete- all that is required to do that is an O2 mobile number.
The remaining five fans will compete in a series of challenges at the England Training Camp in Loughborough in August alongside players from England’s Elite Player squad. The winner, or the O2 Ultimate Fan, will be revealed on the day and will join the England team for the National Anthem during the match.
The head of Sports Sponsorship for O2 commented that the company knew its customers were just as passionate about rugby as they were, so therefore the company could think of no better way of celebrating such passion than rewarding an ‘ultimate fan’. O2 Priority is about giving customers unique experiences that they cannot get anywhere else, such as pre-sales for the biggest concerts in the country and one-off discounts for high street and online retailers.
The competition will run from 7Pm on the 16th June until the 20th and follows the launch of O2’s virtual England rugby experience ‘Wear the Rose’ which allows users to train with the team using exciting new technology, Oculus Rift to immerse them in a unique 360 degree experience. They can enjoy the full experience of being at a training session, from a team talk by Captain Chris Robshaw to being tackled and receiving a pass from the players. Since April, this experience has been available through O2 Priority.
